How I got my start
Did you know that I come from a small business background? While I was growing up my Dad bought a grocery store/butcher shop that his great-grandfather had started. By the time I was twelve I was the cashier. Of course I had to stand on a box to reach the cash register but I did it. Dad was actually the first merchant in town to take credit cards. Howver, even before there were credit cards Dad had manual credit accounts for our regular customers. Every day after school my brother, sister and I went to the store to work. Customers would call in their order. We’d do the shopping, ring it out and deliver it to their door. Hmmm, doesn’t Stop & Shop do that now under the Pea Pod name? Any way, my point is that early on I learned about the joys and sacrifices of being a business owner. Although I went to college to become a teacher (a story for another day) I always wanted to work for the Small business Administration. And, lo and behold, helping the small business owners is exactly what I’m doing now. This blog will cover bookkeeping and QuickBooks info as well as topics timely for the small business owner. So stay tuned.
